Used Dune Buggy for sale in Manhattan Beach, CA

For sale is my 1961 VW Dune Buggy. This was supposed to be a toy for me and my dad, but we ran out of space in our garage to keep it. This buggy is in excellent condition. While not a real Manx, the driving position is excellent, and it is significantly more comfortable than other cheap buggies. The previous owner did an immaculate job restoring and getting this buggy ready. I would say it is 95% the way there in being absolutely perfect.

Pros
Practically new professionally built 2110 engine. I have receipts for the over $2300 cost of all the upgraded parts. It is an amazing engine which runs great and sounds awesome.

Rebuilt transmission with a tall 4th gear for cruising, this can easily handle the power of the engine. It has been matched to the engine so that the two work seamlessly together

Professionally welded rollbar and rear bumper. As one can see on the photos, the rollbar extends all the way through the back of the car. I have receipts for this as well.

New seats, clean interior and working gauges and switches.

Excellent tires, wheels and disc brakes

Smog exempt and registered as VW bug, so no DMV hassle

Runs and drives great

Cons
Paint has some scratches and blemishes in it

Needs a cover for the transmission housing

If I were to keep it I would fit softer suspension
Overall this is an excellent buggy. It could be used both on or off-road. The engine is a gem, plenty of power, sounds amazing, and the trans matches it perfectly. I have thousands in receipts from the previous owner, things on this car were done correctly. This is a great buggy for someone who is looking for a toy that needs very little to be enjoyed.
