Vehicle Description
Campagnola
Own a piece of history with this 1980 Fiat Campagnola, imported from Italy to the US two years ago. Less than two dozen are known to exist in the US, with this likely being the only soft top that was imported. The vehicle is a tank with similar models used extensively in European militaries, as well as a Pope-Mobile.
The SUV is finished in beige with black vinyl seats, the truck features selectable four-wheel drive, a removable soft top, and bench seating in the cargo area. Power is from a 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The exterior was repainted in beige and an unknown point and features a folding windshield, removable upper doors with sliding windows, and a black frame for its canvas soft top. Carello headlamps with city and spot lights are mounted at the front, while European-market rear lighting includes a fog light on the left and a reverse lamp on the right.
The cab features seats trimmed in black vinyl, a T-shaped aluminum handle on the center console for engaging four-wheel drive, and a shifter for the high-low transfer case mounted beside the driver’s seat. The rear cargo area features sideways troop-style seating on wood platforms over the wheel wells.
The truck is equipped with four-wheel independent torsion bar suspension, six interchangeable shock absorbers, and adjustable ride height and was considered to be superior to the Land Rover and Land Cruiser during it’s time.
Recent maintenance is said to have included replacement of the brake pads, engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid, new clutch cable, and new belts. SUV has a clean Pennsylvania title.
Instrumentation includes a 140-kph speedometer and gauges for water temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just under 22k kilometers (~14k miles), with actual mileage unknown.
Vehicle runs great, and can comfortably cruise at 60-65mpg on the highway, while still being able to climb hills like a mountain goat. It can climb a 50 degree hill as well as traverse a 40 degree side slope.
Extra parts include a spare rim which hasn’t been mounted, extra belts, as well as cylinder head gaskets.
