Vehicle Description

1912 PIERCE ARROW Model 36UU five passenger TOURER This car truly represents the pinnacle of quality for pre- WW1 American built automobiles. Only the very finest materials were used. The bodies were cast aluminum. This particular example is one of only two known to have survived. For the nearly four decades this Pierce Arrow has been kept, loved and toured extensively by the same owner. No expense has ever been spares. Approximately 9500 miles have been logged, trouble free over several countries and two continents. One of the tours was 2800 grueling miles, that began in El Paso, Texas and went as far north as Calgary, then Jasper, before heading back south to Spokane, Washington. This was the 1997 Trans-Continental Reliability Tour, hosted by the late Millard Newman. As wonderful as these cars were when new, they remain the preferred Brass Age American tour car of choice. For the serious "Touring minded enthusiast" there are only two safe choices if you are looking for a comfortable, durable, and safe automobiles that can easily travel 200 miles or more a day, days on end and hold up to hot or cold weather, flat or mountainous routes. For American made cars, hands down the Pierce Arrow wins the prize for more reliable and pleasurable of all, for the pre-1914 vintage. For non-American it is the Silver Ghost Rolls Royce. This Pierce Arrow was given a no expense spared restoration by one of the premier shops of the day. By 1989 this car had already earned its AACA National Senior First Prize badge, at the Hershey, Pennsylvania fall national meet. The interior is fantastic and was restored by the renown shop of Leaf Drexler. It remains flawless! This Pierce was a complete, correct and sound, matching numbers car before it was restored. For the collector that wants only the finest, this is it! Further, this car has numerous Touring upgrades, including full weather equipment, overdrive unit, Halogen (hidden) electric lights and turn signals. Most importantly, it had the brakes upgraded artfully to achieve maximum safe braking. This car can be inspected by appointment, in central Virginia.
