Vehicle Description
1928 Ford Pickup The Ford Model A was a huge success for the Ford Motor Company and is the first car that comes to mind when many think of early American steel. It single handedly spawned Americas love affair with trucks and laid the foundation for what would become one of the bestselling vehicles of all time. This steel rodded version of the 1925 Model A is out there in its purest sense, unpainted, no filler, just pure steel. A work in progress, this could be looked at as a great idea in disguise. Yes its unfinished, yes it has the remaining parts, incidentally in the same all steel non filler condition, and yes it looks great just as it is. Bolt on a few remaining parts, and you are on your way, steampunk extraordinaire, a bare metal bomber, just like the old warplanes but not as gaudy and shiny.....patina is the buzzword. Exterior A Brookville Steel Reproduction Body complete with running boards, fenders, and various other parts making a complete truck, makes up the exterior. This leaves the buyer with a blank palette ready to paint with whatever colors you want, or leave as is, and keep rubbin the wax on er! A new convertible top, removable, at present attached is seen. A new oak bed with polished stainless steel bed strips unfinished, unstained, is also ready for your personality. 1932 steel spoked wheels in black, are capped by Ford mini moon hubcaps. Front and rear suspensions are 1929 stock Ford with a dropped front axle (3"). Interior A newly upholstered vinyl bench stretches from door to door, and seats 3 comfortably. In keeping with the exterior, bare steel is seen throughout, as well as a wood floor. A newly polished chrome Ford mask shape gauge cluster has the usual, as well as add on Rex-a-Co. oil and temp gauges. A 4-spoke steel steering wheel fronts the bare dash, and is draped with original chromed levers. Drivetrain A 1929 to 1931 Ford 4 banger sits in a 1929 Ford Model A Chassis. Thomas tri-carbureted intake with 3 Stromberg 81 Carbs atop which feeds the engine. Also seen are a custom made exhaust header, FS Ignitions distributor, electronic ignition, a 12V charging system, finned aluminum valve adjustment plates, and an electric fuel pump. Backed up to the engine is a 1929 Model A transmission, and rear differential. New hydraulic drum brakes are on all 4 wheels. A diamond in the rough, a blank canvas, a steampunk truck, or a Rat Ride, think of all the possibilities. All the parts are here, the original build is all but finished, and ready to handoff to new owner with more energy than the consigner has left. Dream On!
