1929 Ford Model A The Ford Model A can be found in many iterations: coupe, to a roadster, to a sedan to a pickup. Henry Ford had a solid base in the Model A and appeased the masses with various options on that frame. Also, as with many older versions of cars, so many visual customization modifications have been done, that the original showroom look has been long gone. In the case of this car though, mostly original intent as well as actual visual parts to this build, have been retained. A beautiful build with a potential problem of unknown severity. In full disclosure, there is a slight connecting rod knock when this engine idles. Also, excessive end play is noted on the crank shaft. The car idles and runs fine, but these could be issues down the road. Otherwise, very few faults on this 1929 example. Exterior Ford Maroon covers straight steel panels that have been meticulously straightened and restored. From the front chrome radiator surround to the headlight bezels, and the bumpers, door handles and mirrors there is very little fault to find. Black top, fenders, rocker panels and running boards provide a nice contrast to the maroon and ground the car visually. Straw painted color covers steel spoked wheels are all around, plus a spare behind the rumble seat. A pop of the trunk reveals the rumble seat which matches the interior and is covered in gray vinyl. Rear bumper is pristine like the front. Interior Mohair, Mohair as far as the eye can scan on the interior of this car, and it all shows in beautiful condition. Door panels wrapped in gray Mohair, have pristine door handles and window cranks within their field. A vertical tufted front bench (in Mohair) sits between doors and is fronted by a black steel dash. The "mask" gauge cluster reminiscent of the famous "Scream" painting is covered in beautiful chrome. Dark gray carpeting, of course in very good condition, covers the floor. Mohair is also seen on the A and B interior pillars and headliner. A long black shifter reaches up from the floor and has a very nice wood handle on it. Drivetrain A 4.3:1 compression ration inline 4-cylinder engine sits in a well restored engine bay. The Iron inline 4 has an output of 40 HP his connected to a 3-speed manual plus reverse transmission. Zenith provides the fuel and air mixture to the power plant. Undercarriage A view from underneath reveals that is cannot really get any better. Completely restored, and not a mark on it all there for the gazing at. Take a meticulously restored 1929 Model A, give it a beautiful color combination, redo the entire interior keeping it original looking and so simple, then work on the engine, and you have a real shower. As mentioned, the knocking from the engine is concerning, however considering the entire investment, this could be a small factor.
