Vehicle Description

Location: Georgetown, Ky, 40324 Body #: 859885 Engine #: 594430 Mileage: 88766 Transmission: Manual 3 Speed with an Oil Bath Clutch, casting date 4/17/29 Condition: Good Exterior: Black/Tan Interior: Original Brown Mohair Description: - 1929 Hudson Super Six For sale is one 1929 Hudson Super Six 4 door Sedan. The Super Six engine came out in 1928 with 288-cu.in., 92hp, F-head straight-six with its intake valves actuated by pushrods and its exhaust valves riding in the block like a flathead a design. This design was advanced for the time. In1929 the Super Six was fully refined with a 6.0:1 compression ratio and an accelerator pump in its Marvel carburetor. This combination made it a powerful car. In 1929, Hudson boasted the Super Six was capable of more than 80 mph and would cruise at "70 mph all day." The body appears to be in very solid condition. It does not appear that the body has been removed from the frame. The wood inner structure appears quite sound and the metal body panels do not show signs of damage or repair, some surface rust is showing at the bottom of 2 doors. All four doors and the hood fit the body with even gaps and margins throughout. The car was repainted in 1980 and the engine was overhauled at that time by a retired Hudson Mechanic. The engine has not been detailed or cosmetically restored but is in good original condition. The exterior body finish is in very good overall condition and shows only the expected signs of wear from being used and enjoyed. The paint has a consistent, overall gloss and really has a great look. The fenders show no signs of damage or repair. The fenders fit the body and frame with proper alignment. Like the body, the black fender paint shows only the expected signs of wear and is generally in good condition. The brown, mohair interior is original and remains in very clean condition. It shows the expected signs wear from being 88 years old but is really well preserved. One of the door panel pockets has a tear, and headliner sags some, there is some mouse damage also with the head liner. Other than that it is presentable and very clean and usable. The dashboard is equipped with all of its correct, art-deco inspired gauges. The Temperature and fuel gauges do not work, but a set of modern gauges have been temporarily added so the fuel and temp can be monitored. All of the gauges are clear with clean faces. The car retains its original steering wheel with no cracking, the levers for the lights and throttle are broken but still functional. The chrome plating remains in good overall condition, there is some peeling on the back side of the bumpers. The vehicle is complete with all of its proper headlamps, horn, clearance lights, bumpers, rear tail lamp, hubcaps, emblems, door handles, mascot, and the optional heater. The car is fitted with dual side mounted spare tires, and an accessory rear mounted luggage and trunk assembly. The chassis is original and well preserved. It shows no signs of damage, excessive wear, or repair. The engine is equipped with a bronze body carburetor built to the original specs. The original body had begun to disintegrate and leak so it was replaced with this bronze body reproduction carburetor. The ignition system is all original (the points and condenser have been replaced). I have the original generator in a box as it stopped charging and I could not find someone to rebuild it. I replaced it with a Ford 8N 6-volt generator and voltage regulator. All the door glass is clear in good original condition and all the window regulators operate fine. This car also retains its original firewall data plate which shows the body number of 859885 . The four, original wood spoke wheels are in excellent condition and are fitted with newer tires. The car has been in storage for about 10 years. When last used car started easily and ran well. Overall, this extremely scarce 1929 Hudson Super Six Four Door Sedan is an excellent example of one of the more rare American automobiles built in the late 1920?s. This vehicle is in well preserved, mostly original condition. Price: $25,000.00 Included with this sale is a 1928 parts engine. Some known needed repairs: The clutch seal leaks and needs to be replaced. The mechanical brake rods need adjusting. Control levers on steering wheel need repair. The shocks should be rebuilt. The water pump shaft packing leaks.
