Vehicle Description
I know what you're thinking... You glanced at the picture of this classy Standard Six and immediately thought it was just another nice fiberglass Ford that's built for a laid back car guy and ranks of lazy summer car shows. It's okay. Really... Since we've all probably seen a hundred 30-something Fords for every one of these Chevys it has, until now, become very difficult to think outside the box. Built for the enthusiast who wants to expand his mind past the 'ordinary' shapes of Ford street rods and their tongue-in-cheek Chevrolet powerplants, this stunning coupe features a solid, all-steel body and traditional Milano Red paint that'll be right at home at all those lazy summer car shows. AND, thanks to its proven GM Performance Parts V8 and comfortable leather interior, it'll also make the perfect companion for cross-country road trips. In the market for something that's a bit different than a run-of-the-mill street rod? This awesome Chevy is a fantastic choice! RED HOT APPEAL This hot Chevy's smooth and solid body began life as an everyday Sixer that stayed free of accidents and catastrophic damage for over 70 years. At the tail-end of those years, a meticulous enthusiast executed a frame-off restoration that eventually transitioned into a professional, $70K street rod build. That project, involving multiple years and hundreds of hours of labor, sealed exceptionally aligned panels under a great looking coat of traditional Milano Red 2-stage. When the car's current owner took possession, he spiced things up with vivid green and gold stripes. And today, this coupe rolls as a banner showpiece that celebrates the integrity of Chevrolet's high quality products, and decades of carefully calculated care by serious car guys! Wrapping a unique profile in top notch trim and intricate detailing, this awesome 5-window is a first class custom that can be driven OR displayed. At the front of that facade, a painted and stainless-trimmed grille centers a monochromatic hood ornament above a polished bumper and H4 Maxtel headlights. Behind that grille, a 4-piece bonnet flows to bronze-tinted glass that's cleared by polished stainless wipers. At the sides of that glass, sculpted mirrors reflect polished hood pulls, traditional door handles and a classic "BODY by FISHER" badge. Opposite those mirrors, a flush Center High Mount Stop Lamp illuminates a shaved trunk, a flush fuel filler and a flush, power-operated antenna. And at the back of the car, "CHEVROLET" branded taillights center a frenched tag bracket above a second polished bumper and polished Flowmaster exhaust tips. CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE Take a look under this Standard Six's hinged hood and you'll find out exactly where tradition ends and muscle begins! Designed and assembled by the experts at General Motor's own GM Performance Parts aftermarket entity, this coupe's 350 cubic inch ZZ4 crate motor creates a stout 355 horsepower and 405 lb./ft. of torque. At the top of that proven small block, a color-keyed, Cadillac-style air cleaner utilizes front-mount wind wings to funnel oxygen into a Lokar-controlled Edelbrock Endurashine carburetor. That air and fuel is passed through a high performance aluminum intake to high performance aluminum heads, which are ignited by a familiar HEI distributor and vivid GM Performance Parts plug wires. Resultant gases are jettisoned through a slick set of Sanderson block huggers. Cooling comes courtesy of a quality Walker radiator and a quick spinning electric pusher fan. The cam keeps spinning thanks to a smooth March serpentine drive, which hangs a color-keyed flex fan just before a polished Powermaster alternator and a body-matched AC compressor. The compliments keep flowing thanks to a highly detailed, well-executed engine bay. And everything, from the car's bowtie branded looms to its polished radiator cap, is set up to be as impressive as it is enjoyable! UPGRADED AND UP FOR ANYTHING Under this cool cruiser you'll find a modernized chassis that's fully sorted and ready to hit the road. At the center of those bones, a cooled Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed, built with both a shift kit and a 2,200 RPM stall, spins power to a stout Ford 9-inch that's stuffed with mild, 2.50 gears. Those gears push a fully powder-coated frame that's been dressed in stainless bolts, seated on RideTech bags and mated to body-matched floors. At the front of those floors, a Fat Man Mustang II clip hangs easy twisting power rack-and-pinion steering between tubular control arms and 2-inch drop spindles. Quick stops are provided by a familiar combination of GM and Wilwood calipers. A killer soundtrack is trumpeted through 2.5 inch, true-dual pipes, which position electronic cutouts in front of brash Magnaflow mufflers. And power meets the pavement through sweet U.S. Mags U201s, which spin 215/65R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 235/55R18 BF Goodrich Advantage T/As. MODERN COMFORT Unlatch this awesome custom's solid-closing doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that's definitely one of the main highlights of the build. Plush GM seats, which feature power operation for the car's driver, ride high quality carpet that's outlined with leather piping. In front of those seats, an eggshell dash hides a remote-controlled Clarion CD player behind modern air conditioning, a small AccuAir adjuster and classy Classic Instruments telemetry. At the sides of that dash, sculpted panels front modern power windows. And in front of the driver, a tilting Ididit column makes the most of a leather-wrapped, Banjo-style steering wheel.
