New radiator, hoses, belts ,ignition wiring , and fuel pump, Gas tank sending unit replaced, and tank was cleaned and epoxy coating applied to the interior of the tank to prevent rusting. Electronic ignition and high output coil installed. Tires were new 5 years ago and have less than 600 miles on them. This car has been garage kept since it's build in 1981. This car draws attention anywhere it goes. It is a very smooth running car and fun to drive.
Background on this car: My dad, a retired mechanic looking for a project, decided to build a kit car in 1981. Being somewhat of a purist, he did not want to build on a VW chassis; as most kit cars were being constructed. He began a search for a low mileage Pinto with a 4 speed transmission. He was 60 years old at this time and enjoyed driving this car on nice sunny days for years. This car was never taken out in bad weather. As he aged, he drove less and could not justify keeping the car licensed or insured and the car sat for 15years. 2015, my Dad passed at the age of 93 and I inherited the car. This is when I undertook refurbishing the car to its present condition. Now I'm 79 and finding that this car would be better in the hands of a younger person. This is a sportscar of older design and is not a comfortable drive for someone over 6 foot or 200 pounds.
