Vehicle Description
Buick Motor, a division of General Motors, was founded in 1899 by David Dunbar Buick and is currently one of the oldest automobile brands in the US and the world. It established GM in 1908 and was the world’s first automobile producer to put overhead valve engines in its cars. In the US, its has been marketed as a premium luxury marque above the mainstream GM models and just below the Cadillacs. In 1941, Buick offered its widest selection of body styles to date, and the Special was its most popular model, with the sedanet enjoying the first year of the fastback body style. Cadillac and Buick featured a distinctive streamlined design: a slanted back with one unbroken curve that included the rear window and trunk. The Buick Special Sedanet had new, sleeker fender lines, headlights that were completely enclosed in the fenders, and a hood that could be opened from either side. Since this Buick Special’s recent restoration, it has been kept in a climate-controlled environment and has been expertly maintained. It has a beautiful, sleek look that will turn heads with a well-maintained maroon exterior and gray broadcloth interior. The engine shows little evidence of heavy use, and the 248 cubic inch, straight-eight Fireball engine is coupled with a three-speed manual transmission for a smooth, powerful ride. This classic is equipped with many options, including a windshield sun visor, dual spot lights, rear fender skirts, bumperettes, tissue holder, compass and push button Sonomatic radio. The handsome engine-turned-dash is flawless, and all instruments are crisp and in working order. Even the wool carpet, headliner and seats are impeccable and show no wear. This beautiful, rare Buick is as good as it gets!
