Vehicle Description
A Great Pre-War Ford Coupe This was the last year for Fords before domestic production was halted in preparation for WWII. Our 1942 Super Deluxe Coupe is an attractively styled car that starts, runs and stops like a much more recent classic. The engine and transmission are quiet and smooth-running and a delight to drive from the first time you press the starter button. And this is the model with the hidden storage behind the front seat: the Moonshine-Runner’s special ! 1942 Ford—Full Restoration This Ford was treated to a great restoration but retains its originality. Unlike many of these cars that were rodded, this Super Deluxe coupe is like going back to the Ford showroom just before World War II. The car is as clean as a pin and drives like new: Flathead V-8 3-speed column shift manual transmission Great paint (black of course) Radio converted to AM/FM but looks original New interior upholstery (seat, door panels, headliner) New clutch and throw-out bearing New gas tank New muffler and tail pipe AND everything works but the clock!! If it was needed to make this car correct and drivable, it was done. They don’t get any Nicer! Paint and Chrome The black paint—the original color for the car—is in good condition. The recently-detailed paint gleams and shows off the car’s great lines. All of the chrome is very nice and gives a fresh look to this Super Deluxe Ford. The underside of the car is clean and appears free of rust. Interior The seat upholstery was all redone in gray fabric that makes an excellent contrast with the black exterior. The door panels are in very good condition. The gray headliner has been replaced as has the rubber mats. Engine The car’s flat-head V-8 sits nestled in a clean engine bay. It starts and runs much as it first did when the car was built—quiet and smooth. An electric fuel pump was added to insure quick starts even if the car hasn’t been run in several days. Transmission The 3-speed standard transmission shifts properly and smoothly. Tires, Brakes, Safety and Monitoring Systems This Ford has 4 wide whitewall radial tires that look virtually new. The hydraulic brakes work well giving confidence that the car stops quickly. All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges (temperature, fuel, amp and oil pressure) work properly. Similarly, the speedometer works, as do the lights, horn, and turn signals (yes, turn signals ). The original radio remains but has been converted to AM/FM that is not visible. The clock is stuck in 1942. An Excellent Example of one of the last Pre-War Fords This Ford is a fully-restored—and unmolested—example of the very popular 1942 Super Deluxe series—a car that was one of the last made before the Ford plants began making war materials for WW II. These original cars are in high demand but short supply. They therefore represent not just a great driving experience but a sound investment as well. And if there was ever a car that transports you back to the pre-war period, this is it. Apart from the investment value of this car, it is hard to put a price on the feeling of enjoyment when other drivers and pedestrians wave and give you a “thumbs up.” FOR MORE INFORMATION CALL US AT: 540-370-4474
