Vehicle Description
We are pleased to offer this beautiful example of the classic MG TC sports car. This 1946 example is a very early car bearing chassis number TC0879, perhaps making it one of the earliest examples in the U.S. Finished in black with red leather interior and chrome wire wheels, it is strikingly lovely to behold. Accompanying the car is an extensive history file dating back to 1972. Among other things, it details its comprehensive restoration completed over several years. The restoration file includes photo documentation, invoices, and notes relating to the process. Although an older restoration, it is holding up very well and the car still presents beautifully. The body metal is solid without any rust and the underlying wood framing is in excellent condition, all virtually solid as new. The doors close easily while latching tightly without any play or slop, just as they would have when new. Being a very early TC (627th built of 10,000) it was properly restored in its original black color and with a grey under bonnet scuttle which was the standard color scheme for approximately the first 1300 cars. Although an older restoration, it was clearly to a high standard. Documentation records show the car was restored by notables such as Craig Seabrook and Fred Kuntz at the Whitworth Shop (entire body tub, instrument panel, switches, etc.), John Marks of Vintage Restorations in England (instruments), Bob Satava of Ohio (engine), and Paul Huziak of Monaca PA, who did the body, using solely lead filler and original baked-on enamel. All parts were refurbished and restored, rather than replaced with new parts made in China. The result being an MG TC that is fully authentic. The engine boasts excellent oil pressure and holds its fully warm temperature steady in the 75 to 80 degree range. It is a pleasure to drive and for its next caretaker, will doubtless provide a great deal of enjoyment. This car is part of an MG collection we recently acquired out of long term ownership. We have two more TCs, both quite nice, a beautiful TF 1500, a lovely MGA 1600, and 1967 MGB with overdrive and chrome wheels. Lastly, the collection includes a very rare 1934 MG PA also in very nice condition. These cars are in the process of recommissioning to be road ready. Please watch our web site as we will be posting them in the weeks ahead. We invite you to inspect and drive this car. Contact Mike at 573-579-4617 by voice or text or email to Mike@ItsAliveAuto.com.
