Vehicle Description
Wonderful condition! Rare and desirable 1950 Mercury Convertible One of only 8,341 built One of very few in stock configuration Previously featured in “Cars & Parts” magazine Previously collector owned for more than 20 years Stunning color combination Options include: Power convertible top Power windows Touch-O-Matic overdrive Fender skirts New whitewall tires AM radio Gas door trim Includes owner’s manual and magazine featuring the car Recently serviced Performs wonderfully! A collector’s dream! Simply one of the best examples of this iconic model available on the market today! Ford Motor Company introduced the first postwar Mercury in 1949. The new car was drastically different in appearance than its predecessor with the Mercury line adapting “ponton” styling. The Mercury was powered by the now legendary flathead V8, displacing 255 cubic inches that was good for 110 horsepower and kept the Mercury running along the sides Detroit’s of newly designed V8’s. Under the leadership of General Manager Benson Ford the Mercury Division saw tremendous growth with 1950 sales topping both Dodge and Studebaker. Several body styles were available, including a station wagon and four door sedans. However, the most desirable was the two door convertible of which only 8,300 would be built for 1950. Certainly a rare opportunity, the 1949-51 Mercurys remain popular with customizers today. Most examples have been subjected to incredible modifications that rarely resemble their factory appearance. Mercury’s that still remain in original specification are few and far between and when they happen to appear on the market they are highly sought-after by collectors. The 1950 Mercury Convertible featured here is finished in stunning all black with a gorgeous black and red interior. This magnificent motorcar is one of the finest examples we’ve seen in many years and and comes with many options including power convertible top, power windows, fender skirts, gas door trim, AM radio, new whitewall tires and more. We are extremely proud to offer this investment-grade Mercury Convertible to the most astute collector, investor or enthusiast who understands and appreciates how rare this American classic truly is.
