Vehicle Description
Originally purchased by Standard Oil Co to be used as an oil field delivery truck. It was stationed out of the field office in Sundown, Texas where it remained in service until August 1969. At that time it was purchased from the company by the resident field office manager. He used it for hunting, fishing, and general hauling. In 1982 he sold it to his son-in-law who lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He used the truck to travel to work and general hauling. In September of 1989, I traded a 30-06 rifle for it. The truck was in extremely poor condition and I spent about two and one-half years and over $37,000 doing a complete frame up restoration. Upon completion, this beauty had become a hundred point street rod. It has been shown four times and has taken three first places. The battery has been moved to the right from the fender well, and in its old position, a 16 gauge stainless steel toolbox is now attached and sealed to the underside of the cab. It is approximately 12 inches deep, 14 inches wide and 30 inches long. It is accessible through the old battery box door in the floor on the passenger side and is concealed by the carpet and mat. No exterior body metal has been cut or altered. The truck has approximately 17,500 miles on it since being restored. I have made several road trips in this truck, traveling to Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and all over Colorado, and have never had a problem. I believe that it rides and cruises great.
