Used 1954 Jaguar XK120 for sale in Charlottesville, VA

This car is a Jaguar XK120 SE which is the same car that was advertised by Classic Cars for sale in Bridgeport. Conn. and sold to me this summer. Due to a back injury, I must resell the car. Here is some information about it: Very few cars changed the face of competitive motorsports more than Jaguar’s XK120. Born from the ashes of World War II, the XK120 let the world know that fun could still be had even in the immediate postwar. The XK120 made its debut at the 1948 London Motor Show as a purpose-built show car, but it caused such a sensation that the great William Lyons ordered it into production. The XK120 went on to win races on every continent and was also favored by motorists everywhere. Actor Clark Gable even took delivery of his XK120 Roadster in 1949. Clearly Jaguar had a winner on its hands and the XK120 was the car to beat. Offered here is a 1954 XK120 SE, the last year of production for this legendary car. Its lovely appearance is nicely set off by Old English White with a black canvas top and a red interior. Jaguar’s finely sculpted XK120 lines are prominently displayed on this nicely restored example that looks great in all areas. It rides on factory wire wheels with black wall tires and the simplicity of Jaguar’s XK120 design is characterized in its split front bumper with the simple, but elegant Jaguar oval grille. At the rear are two simple vertical bumper guards and small tail lamps for a clean look. The interior of this XK120 is nicely restored in beautiful red leather and Jaguar’s center mounted gauges on the dash have received a full restoration. At the heart of this XK120 is Jaguar’s famous twin cam six that won so many races on every continent. This XK120 also carries the SE or “Special Equipment” performance package that featured wire wheels, increased power, stiffer suspension, and a dual exhaust system. Jaguar’s XK120 is a car of legendary status and it also holds the distinction of being the first foreign car to win a NASCAR road race. In 1954, driver Al Keller drove an XK120 to victory at the Linden Airport race thereby solidifying the XK120’s place in history. This fine example with its excellent Jaguar reliability and classic British roadster styling is a car that begs to be driven on a fine summer day while also being a welcome addition to any concours show field.
