A new steering wheel and shifter allow for efficient gear selection, while a repainted Bel Air dash and original gauges remain intact. All-in-all, a basic and comfortable interior in good shape, perfect for long cruises with the family. Mechanically, this Bel Air amazingly still has its original, numbers matching 265 V8, spinning what is believed to be the original Powerglide as well. Now that's not something you see very often in a Tri-5. Sure it's not nicely detailed in the engine bay, but it is honest, and some recent maintenance work like the starter, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel tank, and alternator were all replaced. A look underneath reveals a solid but not detailed chassis with all the suspension parts in decent condition and newer air shocks installed. A little elbow grease and time would go a long way toward a better presentation, but a whole teardown certainly isn't required. This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is a really neat car that could play well to a broad audience. Here we have one of those cars that can be thoroughly enjoyed just as it sits.
