Honestly, can you really do better than a beautifully restored 1955 Chevy Bel Air convertible? An accessory tissue dispenser lives under the dash and the original slot is now filled with a retro-style AM/FM/Cassette radio to keep the stock look. Most imposing of all is the 4-speed shifter that juts out from the floor board and almost taunts the driver to spin the tires on this elegant Tri-5. There's a white power convertible top overhead and it stows beneath a matching green boot to give the car a clean look, top up or top down. The trunk was also nicely detailed with a correct rubber mat and correct jack assembly, although you'll note there's no spare because it's in the continental kit, as intended. Nice to see a 1955 dated 265 cubic inch V8 under the hood (pulled from a C1 Corvette), detailed to a high standard that will make anyone eager to pop the hood in a parking lot for some show-and-tell. A 4-barrel carburetor and painted intake manifold are surely responsible for a nice bounce in performance and the orange block, black inner fenders, and clean firewall makes the engine bay sparkle at car shows. An original-style generator and oil bath air cleaner add to the authentic look, and rams-horn headers feed a great-sounding dual exhaust system with chambered mufflers for a 1950s sound. A 4-speed manual transmission means that this car is always ready to go and have some fun and the suspension and brakes are pretty stock, so service is easy and it rides and handles with a vintage feel that's a big part of the experience. Painted steel wheels with beautiful factory hubcaps are wearing 205/75/15 wide whitewall radials that ride and handle great.
