Vehicle Description
My Beloved 1956 Bentley S-1 Saloon has to go. For those of us not in the know, Bentley and Rolls Royce were the same company from 1931 through the late 1990's When Rolls Royce built a car, Bentley built one just like it. Every Nut and Bolt are exactly identical. The ONLY differences between this Bentley S-1 and the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 1 is the Badging and the shape of the radiator. BE AWARE : This is NOT a project car. It is absolutely ready for the road and I personally, would not be afraid to drive it anywhere. Starts and Runs exceptionally well ~ a real pleasure to drive. Original 6 Cylinder Inline engine in very good condition. Accelerates quickly and Merges onto freeway without a problem. Everyone who sees it absolutely sits up and takes notice. It is a one car parade. I just spent $9,000 renovating and updating this wonderful ride with original parts. Except for a new Electronic Ignition, the Car is all original and very pure. (this is in addition to the $5,000 I spent on her after my initial purchase 3 years ago) All work was performed by noted British Car experts in the Sacramento area. No "shade-tree" mechanics for this car! Here is a list of updates and repairs: New wool carpet on the lower doors, Newer Steel Belted Radial Tires, Third brake light in rear window (additional safety feature), Seatbelts, New upper and lower Trunions (suspension right side), Removed and Inspected KingPin (excellent condition), New Steering box mounting bushing, Serviced transmission (fresh band adjustment, drained/refilled and new pan gasket), New Coil, New back-up light switch, New gas tank sending unit, New Headlight bulb, Back-up light working, newer Brake Hydraulics, Newer Tune-up, Pertronix Electronic Ignition, Recent fluid all changed, newer full service conducted, New Muffler/Exhaust system. All gauges work, Lights inside and out all work, Heater is very strong, Original Leather inside is holding together well, Woodwork inside cabin is immaculate. Tray "Picnic Tables" all present and working, Bijur lubrication system in place and working. With Very Little TLC, this Daily Driver could be a real Show-Car. This car has already been presented in the Sacramento Christmas Parade as well as many other social and matrimonial events. Original Owner's manual in glove-box. Body is straight and Paint/Chrome are in good shape. Remember that British cars did NOT use the big White Wall tires that were prevalent in the United States in this era. So the Black wall tires you see in the photographs are period correct. These tires are steel-belted radials and hold the road much better than the old Bias-Ply design. I could go on about this car for days. Out of my collection, it is definitely one of my favorite car to drive. Car comes with most of the original tools, manuals, documentation, original jack and spare tire. Call to set up an inspection or a test drive Joseph 916.500.2258
