Vehicle Description
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air - LS Swap w/4L60E Transmission - Magazine Featured - Air Ride Suspension - Custom Wheels - (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this vehicle on a website other than our main website, it's possible that only some of our many photographs of this car are not presented due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the photographs, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.) This awesome Bel Air is the culmination of some imagination, customization, and lots of hard work from a father and son team who tackled this project. The finished product all ties together well, and it's one of those cars that has both details that you notice the more and more you look at it, and others that pop right out at you......like a bunch of skulls looking at you. So take a closer look, your cerebral cortex will appreciate the stimulation....we just hope you're sympathetic to those who are acrophobic. The builders took sort of an unconventional approach to the exterior styling. Most of the chrome and stainless trim have been painted metallic silver which contrasts nicely with the body that is slathered in Urban Grey Metallic. The sail panels on the rear fenders have been painted in a contrasting silver background covered by airbrushed skulls. Other than most trim being painted and some interesting decoration on a few places the body of the car has been carefully restored by performing a frame-off restoration. Only the antenna has been shaved, nothing else has been nipped or tucked. It's just a clean body on a beefed up frame. A push of the button on the custom RingBrothers door handle gives access to the custom interior. The seats are a pair of Ford Probe buckets that have been slightly reshaped, while the rear seats consist of a pair of '69 Camaro seats on either side of the transmission tunnel. The transmission tunnel was actually raised and reshaped to aid in suspension travel. The tunnel being highly visible and painted in a contrasting color running through the center of the car is a nice highlight. Between the front seats is a custom-built steel center console that houses the air ride controller, window switches, and stereo head-unit. The dashboard was smoothed in a few areas, and along with surrounding trim has been painted to match the bumpers and exterior trim. Dakota Digital gauges keep tabs on the engine, and a Billet Accessories Direct steering wheel that follows the skulls theme was installed. For a bit of contrasting color, the seats and door panels have been wrapped in Camel colored vinyl. The trunk has been thoroughly customized as well to house the air ride components and the amp and subwoofer. Also finished in Camel colored vinyl, the whole trunk setup is eye-catching. Under the cowled hood, once you get past the faces looking at you, is a 5.3L Chevrolet LS engine mated to a 4L60E transmission. The LS swap is nestled in a very clean engine bay. Hooker headers, polished billet valve covers, custom airbrushed engine cover, and a few small billet parts add a little extra flair to the engine bay. Once you get the car off the ground (and no, we don't mean when you 'air up' the suspension to drive it) you'll find that the underside of the car is extremely clean. The frame was c-notched, parallel 4-link w/panhard bar was added, and airlift air bag suspension with QA1 shocks in the rear. This suspension setup along with a few other modifications to the body allow this car to tuck 20 Raceline wheels in front and a whopping 22 pair in the rear. In case you were wondering what Acrophobic means, it is an extreme fear of heights, and is the name of a car club that our client belongs to. This car is a really nice package with unique touches, an awesome powerplant, a plush custom interior, and killer looks. A fear of heights is not a prerequisite for ownership of this car, but a clear head and an appreciation for a sweet custom just might b
