Vehicle Description
This is a remarkable find! This Unicorn was discovered in the SDSU area and was in single ownership from 1957 till Now still residing in the hands of the Family Estate it is finally being offered to a second buyer. The vehicle was ordered at Hatch Chevrolet by Marie and Ray Taylor at Hatch Chevrolet in El Cajon, CA. It was hand picked up by Ray and Marie in ST Louis, Mo in August that year by way of Jantzen Chevrolet. Marie and Ray drove the vehicle back to San Diego later that month in September of 1957!!! This RARE example is finished in Aztec Copper with Beige interior of which 261 are believed to been built. Upon arriving back home Ray and Marie founded the Corvette Club of San Diego as member #1 and #2. The car lived in the SDSU area its entire of 62 years. The vehicle retains its original motor, 3 speed trans, posi rear and fuel injection unit. The vehicle has recently undergone a recent mechanical refresh with Larry at the Corvette shop where the fuel injection unit was completely rebuilt, serviced and etc. The vehicle had undergone a full frame off restoration to very high standards in 2008. Original sales docs, purchase order, manual, battery and warranty card will accompany the vehicle. The original Owner’s manual is quite valuable as it is personally signed and addressed to Ray Taylor by Zora Duntov himself… A letter from Hatch Chevrolet to Jantzen Chevrolet notifying them of the pick up and original/ current reg cards are also included. As you may know an original Fullie is not only RARE but extremely difficult to validate, this vehicle is fully documented form New a True Original Single Owner 1957 Fuel injected Corvette with all original components to boot. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire such a highly desirable and fully documented car that cannot be disputed in any venue. The car would be an excellent candidate for Showing and completed the task with this type of paperwork and components one could easily obtain a Top Flight, Bloomington Gold and Duntov Certification should you choose to show it.
