Vehicle Description
1959 MG MGA Roadster
The MG was a british produced sports car that had its roots in the 1920s at Morris Garages where business manager Cecil Kimber took a standard production Morris Oxford and as a promotional vehicle introduced the MG Super Sport. When 1930 arrived the M.G. Car Company Limited was established and would go on to have various different owners over the following years. The MGA was released in 1955 and marked a notable appearance redesign from the TF 1500 that it replaced. Wide swooping fenders and running boards were now a thing of the past. While the TF was sporty in its own right the MGA was truly a sports car. The doors were free of handles and the two seater roadster body was much more streamlined. Interestingly enough out of the 101,081 units produced until 1962 only 5,869 were sold in the home market with the rest being exported.
This clean 1959 MG is a nice survivor car coated in bright Red paint with a Black top. It would make a fun driver as is or a good start for additional restoration. All of the original chrome and stainless trim is there. The front windshield is in good condition and these cars had the slide in for when you are cruising with the top up. The car rides on 15 inch knock off spoke wheels with Centred Metric Radial tires.
Under the hood is the original 1489 cc 4 cylinder motor. It features dual carburetors and has been kept mostly stock except for the aftermarket Lucas Sport ignition coil. The motor starts up and runs well. It is paired with a 4 speed manual transmission, hydraulic brakes, independent front suspension, and solid rear axles with leaf springs.
The interior is complete in its original Black upholstery with dual bucket seats. The original MG shifter is routed through the floor and moves through the gears nicely. The dash is nicely upholstered in Black as well and topped off with its original Jaeger gauges. The trunk is carpeted and houses a matching wire knock off spare.
If you are looking for a unique classic that doesn't break the bank this MGA is definitely one to check out.
This classic is being offered up at the very reasonable $23,500.00!
