Vehicle Description
A beautiful restoration, looks and runs/drives great.
We were told the engine had been recently rebuilt.from my experience with BMC A series engines, does NOT have a 950 casting mark but, at the same time, is missing the 1100 plate. So, to the best of my guessing, the engine is an 1100. Likewise, while Minors always had a single SU carb, this car has twin SUs. Hence, my belief, the drive train in this car is from an 1100 Spridget. It certainly feels like it as the car runs and performs better than any Minor I can remember.
As for the rest.gearbox is quiet in 1st and reverse, has very good synchromesh action, works perfectly. And same with brakes, steering, electricals, etc.
AND.appears to have have excellent floors, sills, crossbeams, etc. As photos show, no apparent sign of rust anywhere.
Lovely paint in Dove gray, new maroon convertible top and boot cover, all new interior, (seats, panels, carpets), trunk and engine bay are spotless, wiring and electricals seem quite good, same with exhaust, shocks, tires, chrome, trim, on and on.
Presuming one isn't aiming for Pebble Beach, and using a bit of poetic license, essentially, this car is in show condition. And, while excellent operation and performance aren't requirements for shows, this car actually runs and drives very well.so, sure, can even arrive at a local show under its own power!
I guess the point of referring to show use is as a relative subjective assessment. It is VERY clean inside, underneath, engine and trunk bays, dash, seats, top, on and on and on.
And positively adorable. Isn't it?
