Vehicle Description

1962 Jaguar Mk 10 Looks and drives great, especially with the replacement transmission! Wood is gorgeous, upholstery is in excellent condition. Complete original tool kit, spare, jack, lug spanner, A/C runs cold. Owners Manual, complete Shop Manual and Parts List. Custom car cover. I was in Auburn, IN over the Labor Day weekend for the RM Auction, and a 1964 Mark 10, identical to mine, but with power windows, sold for $32,500. I really love this car, but have to sell because we are moving and I don't have space for it in the new place. -------------------------- Car inspected by Roy Da Silva on Sep 10, 2017 Certified appraiser of the International Automotive Appraisal Association 2001 -2009 Member ID 1002190000 Here is his report: The Jaguar Mark X (Mark ten), later renamed the Jaguar 420G, was British manufacturer Jaguar ' s top-of-the-range saloon car for a decade, from 1961 to 1970. The large, luxurious Mark X succeeded the Mark IX as the company's top saloon model, and was primarily aimed at the United States market. The company hoped to appeal to heads of state, diplomats and film stars. Introduced in the same year as Jaguar's iconic E-Type, the Mark X impressed with its technical specification and innovations. Contrary to its predecessors, the car featured integrated, unitary bodywork – the largest in the UK at the time, as well as independent rear suspension, unheard for early 1960's British luxury cars. Combined with the 3.8-liter, triple carburetor engine as fitted to the E-type, it gave Jaguar's flagship a top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h) and capable handling at less than half the price of the contemporary Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Despite press acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic, the Mark X never achieved its sales targets. When Jaguar decided to replace its entire saloon range with a single new model, the resulting XJ6 of 1968 used the Mark X as a template – albeit with a reduced size. This vehicle was purchase 14 years ago. It has a Heritage Certificate. There are original books and shop manuals. The car was original a Black exterior with Black leather which has been changed to red while under restoration. During his ownership there has been extensive work. The engine was completely rebuilt; the transmission was swapped out from a Borg Warner to an American unit. The suspension was also reworked with new springs and shocks. This is a solid good running driver of the predecessor of the very successful XJ 6 Body: Very good. The paint job appears mostly original and is showing its age. There are areas where rust is coming through. Places such as lower doors [update 7/17/18 - doors have been repaired!] and engine cowling are rusting. The body lines are straight. All body gaps are tight and well aligned. The vehicle glass is all correct and scratch free. Trim is in very condition. Chrome is in very good condition without scratches. Trunk is in very good condition. The vehicle retains the original tool kit. Trunk carpets are well preserved. An original spare and jack are present. Frame & Suspension: Very good . The undercarriage shows some normal road grime commensurate with its age and mileage. A stainless steel exhaust system was present. Tires are radials mounted on steel wheels with hubcaps. Both are in good condition. The front and rear brakes are disc. Stock shocks are retained. Engine: Very good . The engine compartment is totally stock. All the proper brackets, stickers and wires are used. The ignition is stock. The manifolds are stock. The transmission is a replacement unit by Johns Cars. Interior: Very good . The dashboard is in like new condition. The gauges are in excellent condition. All the switches and other controls are in excellent condition. The wood work was completely refurbished. The bucket seats and surfaces show some normal wear. The carpets are in very good condition. The door panels are in good condition. Doorjambs are in fair condition. ---------------------------End of ReportVIN: 350090BW Body No: Z001271 Date Built: 14 Feb 1962 First Owner: R.F.
