Vehicle Description
Would you like to be asked to drive the Homecoming King and Queen in your town's local parade? Then you will want this classic 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass 85 convertible in Ebony Black with Deluxe Red interior. Or if you would like it just for yourself, you can enjoy this drop-top ride wherever you go, be it a downtown cruise, a trip to the grocery store, to the beach, or mountains. Drop the top and get ready to be noticed. This is the first year for the second generation of the Cutlass. It was remade larger, more powerful, and roomier. The clean, simple lines of the car give it a classy look, and although the paint has some flaws, it still looks great cruising down the thoroughfare. Up front, a four-bar grill is framed by brightwork on the top and sides, and the bumper on the bottom. It has quad headlights set into it, and an F-85 emblem in the center. Simple, clean, nice. Oldsmobile script runs across the front of the hood with a chrome accent line running back toward the windshield. The side of the car is uninterrupted except for chrome side molding that picks up at the front bumper, goes up, and then all the way to the back of the car in a straight line. The look at the rear is a rectangular affair, with triple taillights on each side, and Oldsmobile script in segmented panels between them just above the bumper. A white convertible top is a recent replacement and looks great with the black paint, and steel wheels with wire hub caps and white wall tires are just the right look for this classic. Open the door and check out that awesome door panel. It's vertically pleated with a chrome strip across the top and chrome accents waterfalling from it. Red bucket seats are comfortable and just beg you to get into them and drive away. Unless you are the Mayor. Then you will want to put the top down with the touch of a button and get in the back seat so you can wave to the crowd. A two spoke, red and polished metal steering wheel really makes a statement, and it frames a view of the dashboard that carries the exterior design theme of simple, elegant, lines to the interior. Gauges and controls are clear and crisp and an Alpine CD player was installed for some improved top-down tune sessions. Other than the FiTech fuel injection control to the right of the wheel and the upgraded stereo system and speakers, the interior is stock, and in excellent condition. New for '64 was the 330-cubic inch engine found in this car, and which is called the Jetfire Rocket V8. This one has been punched up to higher horsepower levels with the assistance of a FiTech fuel injection system, adding much needed pop to those red-light to red-light standoffs. That is backed up by the optional, 2-speed automatic transmission, called the Jetaway trans, which had new, variable pitch stator technology. Yes, space race technology was finding its way into our cars by the 1960s. Or at least what they were naming the parts was super gold. And yes, that is the correct color on the valve covers and air cleaner (although the air cleaner is aftermarket), as delivered from the factory in 1964. The factory power steering system helps maneuver this droptop with ease, allowing for relaxed two-finger steering, and a dual exhaust system with cherry-bomb mufflers provides a great note for the 330 V8. Come on down, fire this sweet ride up, and drive it home. Admit it, haven't you always wanted a black convertible? Call today!
