Vehicle Description
Special Winter Discounted Price: was $65,000; now $57,900. 1965 Pontiac GTO: 3x2s; 4-speed If you walked into the Pontiac showroom in 1965 this GTO would have been a stand-out then just as it is today. This is a PHS-documented car with just about every option that was offered from the 3x2s to the rear window defogger and everything in between. Perhaps the GTO was best immortalized by the Beach Boys lyrics: Little GTO, you’re really looking fine. Three deuces and a four-speed and a 389 . . . An Outstanding Car This 1965 GTO has been restored with such attention to detail that it even has the correct date-coded spark plug wires! It is equipped with: Tri-power (3x2 carburetors) 389 V-8 Manual 4-speed transmission Dual exhausts of polished aluminum Differential Safe-T-Track rear end Power steering with tilt steering wheel Power brakes with aluminum drums and metallic brake linings Hurst aluminum wheels (not reproductions) Ride & handling package Bucket seats and center console with vacuum gauge Power windows and power driver’s seat Pushbutton AM-FM radio with electric antenna Dual speed wipers with washer Rear window defogger And the list goes on Excellent from Top to Bottom Paint and Body The frame-off re-spray of this GTO in its color-change Montero Red is nicer than when it left the showroom. The chrome and stainless trim is all in excellent condition The underside is almost show-quality clean without a hint of rust or corrosion. Interior The black vinyl interior is clean and fresh-looking, and as one would expect, the upholstery is free of rips, holes or separations. The center console has a vacuum gauge and also houses the floor shift. All of the safety equipment (lights, wipers and horn) work properly. All of the gauges likewise are functioning. Engine The Tri-power 389 V-8 engine starts right up and runs properly. With the 3x2s and dual exhaust, it is off to the races in a flash. Transmission The 4-speed synchromesh manual, transmission has the console-mounted shifter that lets you slip through the gears like a hot knife through butter. Brakes The Wonder-Touch power brakes are enhanced with aluminum drums for faster heat dissipation as well as metallic brake linings for longer wear. Safety and Convenience All of the safety features (lights, signals, horn, wipers) of the GTO work correctly as do the gauges, speedometer and tachometer. The car is equipped with seat belts for 4. The convenience items include: pushbutton AM/FM radio with electric antenna, power steering and brakes, power windows and driver’s seat, tilt steering, rear window defogger, padded dash, rally gauges, Soft-Ray glass on all windows, handling and ride package, true Hurst aluminum wheels, etc., etc. An Exceptional Original Example of the Famous GTO There is one word that can best describe this 1965 GTO coupe: EXCEPTIONAL! This is a car that will be equally at home on the show field at judged car shows or just driving around town. Opening the hood and looking at the Tri-power 389 nestled in a show-quality engine bay is like stepping back to those days when Pontiac first unveiled its top-of-the-line GTO. Come to our showroom and see an excellent and original example of that era’s muscle car and you’ll be singing Little GTO just like the Beach Boys—well, almost just like!
