Vehicle Description
Located in Arizona Shipping Available This fantastic 1966 Mustang Coupe "Restomod" has had extensive new mods and upgrades to improve performance and safety while still retaining its timeless and classic Mustang looks. Very straight sheet metal with beautiful new driver quality two stage paint in a original Mustang color of Forest Highland Green. With period correct 15 inch Torque Thrust rims this car has a "Bullitt Mustang" look that turns heads and thumbs up everywhere you go. The BFG Radial T/As tires are in great shape with about 75% of tread left. Mileage on speedo, which has been replaced, indicates 51,000 miles. I purchased this car from an Arizona owner in 2011, title shows car in Arizona since 2007 and California since at least 1994. I have put less than 10K miles on this Mustang since purchase in 2011. Looking at the undercarriage this looks like a clean no major rust car. Has a clear Arizona box "A" title. The performance built 289 V-8 engine is a 1968 block and the power is estimated to be around 300 HP. Engine short block has about 25K miles on it since it was completely overhauled including a full balance and blueprinting. The block is bored .030 over with TRW forged flat top 9-1 pistons and ARP rod bolts. A few years ago the engine top end and accessories were overhauled and there is less than 3000 miles on engine since this work was done. Work included a new timing chain and timing cover, new oil pump, fuel pump, water pump and poly motor mounts. The ported cylinder heads have screw in studs and guide plates and were redone with new exhaust valves, valve guides, steel roller rocker arms, new ARP head bolts and all new gaskets. Cam is a hydraulic street performance type from Summit Racing. Intake manifold is a Ford Performance aluminum high rise topped with a Edelbrock 600 CFM 4 barrel carburetor. Ignition is supplied by a Mallory unilite distributor with MSD ignition box. A road racing style Moroso 7 quart steel oil pan and aluminum Cobra valve covers finish off the engine. A new high capacity aluminum radiator with electric cooling fan keeps this Mustang running cool, even on the hottest days with the A/C running. Shorty style Headman headers with a new custom exhaust system, Magnaflow mufflers and x-pipe, this exhaust system sounds great but is not overly loud. This engine starts right up, runs smooth, uses no oil, revs quick and pulls hard. With its world class T-5 5 speed transmission and free revving 289 small block this car is a real thrill to drive. The original automatic transmission was replaced with a great shifting world class T-5 manual from a Fox body Mustang and with the 5th gear overdrive makes freeway cruising easy. The flywheel and clutch were replaced with new parts when the engine was installed the clutch works great with easy pedal effort and smooth action. The rear end carrier / 3rd member is a newer Currie Enterprises 8 inch traction-loc / posi unit with 3:55 gears. This car also has a new, modern "Classic Air" R-134 Freon air conditioning system that blows lots of cold air. The heater and defroster system were completely overhauled with a new aluminum heater core, core housing seals, hoses, blower motor, defrost ducting, etc. Most of the black interior has been recently redone including new carpet with dynamat type insulation and new high back reclining seats, new 3 point seat belts, new dash pad and a new TMI upholstered fiberglass headliner. Has new door jam trim, outside door handles and Cobra style bullet side view mirrors. All the lights work and the fuel, temp and oil gauges work. Windshield wipers work, the horn is inop. The car could also use a windshield as it has a couple chips and needs a new seal (this job is much easier than original due to quick and easy removal of the TMI fiberglass headliner) The AM/FM stereo is a new "Retro Sounds" unit with aux input jack and a 100W amp in the trunk. The high-back seats and 3 point seat belts are a big safety improvement over
