Used 1966 Ford Thunderbird for sale in Olathe, KS

If you have wanted a 428 Bird but not a Landau top this may be the one. It has always been my favorite model of the fourth generation Thunderbirds. This car has been recently repainted Honeydew Yellow which is the correct color. Notice there is no fender skirt on the left side. I have a replacement skirt for it but it has not been painted. Also at the time of these pictures the right rear script is missing but I have it and will include it. 1966 was the first year for 6-way power seat on the driver's side. The 64 & 65 models only had a 4-way power seat. None had a power seat for the passenger as far as I know. This car has an AM radio with an 8-track tape player. The radio antenna mast has been broken off but I will include a correct new one. There are six switches for the electric windows. Since this is NOT a landau model it has four side windows plus the two electric vent windows. All do work. Both sides have an inoperative window crank on the door panels so I assume that this car must not have had electric windows when new. The VIN shows the engine should be a "Q" code which makes this 428 the correct engine. It was the first year a 428 was offered in the Thunderbird. My observation is that the engine bay is very clean and some of the wiring harnesses look to be new. It doesn't look to me that the engine has ever been out but it starts and runs well and doesn't smoke. I am told that only about twenty per cent of the 66 Thunderbirds got a 428 engine. I have had the entire front suspension and steering rebuilt because it was worn and loose. When they car painted the car they must have had the trunk lid off. When they reinstalled it they didn't reset the torsion bars which assist in opening and keeping the lid in an open position. I would assume that a decent body person could take care of it and would not be much of a job. I have a new ignition switch and headlight switch which I will include. I haven’t had any trouble starting the car but have hardly driven it all and never at night. This is a “project car” by definition but would make a very nice driver with most of the expensive repairs taken care of. It does need a new carpet. I am not able to finish the restoration and choose to sell the car. Let me know what you think and make me a reasonable offer.
