Vehicle Description
Your looking at a truly beautiful piece of American Muscle history! As straight as arrow an runs like brand new! You would be hard pressed to find another like it ! From a Client's private collection.! This 442 is decorated with a L69 V-8 to the 4-4-2's engine bay. That's Lansing's factory-built Tri-Carb 400, the first triple-carb Oldsmobile since the J2 package disappeared nearly a decade before. A trio of two-barrel Rochester carbs, with mechanical (not vacuum) throttle linkages for faster secondary response, sat upon an iron intake manifold. The intake featured a pair of clever exhaust heat-riser block-offs, one on either side of the center carb. The owner could unscrew the block-offs and rotate them 90 degrees, changing from street to strip without disassembling the engine. Rated at 360 gross horsepower and a gut-tightening 440 pound-feet of torque, the L69 equaled the power of the Tri-Power 389 in Pontiac's best-selling '66 GTO, and trumped it on torque as well. Yet the 2,129 L69-powered Oldsmobiles were a fraction of the Tri-Powers Pontiac was able to shift. Moderation was alive and well at Oldsmobile--at least when it came to selling high-performance machinery. 1966 OLDSMOBILE 4-4-2 W-30 360 HORSEPOWER @ 5,000 RPM 440-LB.FT.
