Vehicle Description
1966 Ponitac GTO Royal Bobcat. Located in PORTLAND, OREGON. This GTO Hardtop was sold new on February 9, 1966 by Allen-White Pontiac in Lexington, North Carolina. During this same time, Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak, Michigan offered a high-performance upgraded GTO (dubbed "The Bobcat") at their dealership. Additionally, they offered an upgrade package to "Royal Tune" your GTO. This car received that upgrade during the time it was kept by the original owner. The 389 V8 with Tri-Power carburetion was added, along with a Hurst 4-speed manual transmission replacing the original dealer-equipped automatic. Hurst rally wheels were fitted. The original factory Frigidare air conditioning system was left intact, along with the original power steering. The result was the car you see here, now badged as a true "Royal Bobcat." After nearly 40 years, the car was restored in 2005, just before being purchased by the current owner. Fully stripped and repainted in correct "Martinique Bronze" metallic. All chrome re-plated and polished, new upholstery. Cordova black vinyl top was replaced. We are told that the engine was also rebuilt at this time and fitted with polished Edelbrock valve covers and MSD electronic ignition, coil and Tach adapter. These upgrades ensure quick starting, smooth idling and great engine response. It runs and drives beautifully. Great power and exhaust note. The Hurst wheels were also wrapped with new Coker Classic redline radial tires (including the spare in the trunk.) PLEASE SEE PHOTOS AND VIDEO. Since restoration, this car has seen limited use, with just 1,380 miles showing on the recalibrated odometer. It looks gorgeous today, as can be seen in the photos and video, that were just taken for this listing. Solid, rust-free and accident-free. It comes with a binder of information including the original owner's manual and Protecto Plate, copy of the window sticker and other documentation from Pontiac Historic Services. Overall, this is a great package. It could not be duplicated today for the asking price. WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BUYERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
