Vehicle Description
1966 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SHADOW I
This 1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I (Chassis: SRX1384) is an unrestored, original one-owner driver with approximately 51k original miles. This example was maintained by the original owner for more than 50 years until we, the second owner, purchased it several years ago. The original owner bought the car new in London and used it for 30 days over there before shipped to the United States and drove it on weekends, storing it in a climate-controlled garage when not in use. She had several customizations done by the Rolls-Royce factory, which are all documented with paper mail. It remains unmodified and is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 paired to a Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission. The car is now being offered with a clean Florida title, original tools, all service documents since new, and documentation of the communication with Rolls Royce and the original owner during the build process, also we have the original invoice and sticker price with the actual cost of the vehicle back in 1966. This is a perfect example of a car collector due to the extensive historic documentation this vehicle has.
The beige paint is completely original and shows minor fading in some areas. The single-stage paintwork used by Rolls-Royce in the 1970s shows some areas of thinning paint and discoloration. A minor mishap recently resulted in a scuff on the rear driver side wheel arch. No structural damage occurred, only paint damage. All body panels are straight with no signs of previous accidents or repairs. Hubcap beauty rings were hand-painted in pink to match a custom pink stripe that was ordered from the factory by the original owner. Factory beige Connolly hide leather is creased and has patina, though it is absent of rips or tears, and has never been reupholstered.
The dash presents well and the original push-button radio with factory-installed 8-track remains. The A/C is said to blow cold, and all lights, gauges, and electronics are thought to be working properly. Burlwood on the dash is intact but shows some normal cracking in the lacquer that is easy to repair.
Under the hood, the 6.2 liter V8 was good for 172 horsepower when new and it does, indeed, run and drive smoothly and the vehicle only needs TLC.
