Breathtaking 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Coupe
New to our Pleasanton showroom is this highly impressive 1968 Plymouth Road Runner 2 Door Coupe with black exterior paint and a black & silver vinyl interior. You'll find a dealer-warrantied 426 cid Hemi V-8 engine under the hood with an A-833 18 spline transmission, a Dana 60 rear end with 3.54 gears and sure grip Posi traction, and this spectacular muscle car is in tremendous overall factory condition with fantastic documentation. The spare tire in the trunk is the original spare! 1968 was the first year for the Roadrunner and this car was built on January 2. A very early build Roadrunner with an Inland shifter (before Hurst was added), black and white badges and power steering delete for drag racing.
Factory Replaced 426 Hemi w/ Blank Number Pad
The current owner of this 1968 Plymouth Road Runner took possession in 2011 and he informs us that he has extensive documentation on this highly desirable classic muscle car. This was a true 426 Hemi example that had the motor replaced early on under the factory warranty, which can be confirmed by the blank number pad on the engine. This beautiful example appears to be genuine throughout and has been maintained at the highest possible levels throughout its life.
Cosmetically, this 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Coupe shows minimal signs of wear from its 50+ years of ownership. The body lines aren't quite perfect but they do come exceedingly close, with only slight signs of imperfection and excellent chrome and trim all the way around. The interior is also stock in appearance with the factory gauge cluster and steering wheel; the carpeting, seating and entire interior could almost pass for like-new in condition. This '68 Road Runner has brought home countless trophies and awards as well since it's a truly stunning, exceedingly rare vehicle.
Out on the open road, this 1968 Plymouth Road Runner stays true to its heritage with excellent acceleration and handling. It is a true muscle car in every sense of the word with an engine bay that would make any Hemi enthusiast proud. It shows just enough dressing to be a true show-caliber example while remaining virtually bone-stock in appearance- this example must be seen in person to truly appreciate since the photographs or this description can't fully do it enough justice.
An Incredible Investment for a True Show-Stopper
Overall, this 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Coupe is an absolutely stunning, highly original example that's been maintained at the highest possible levels its entire life. It is one of the most impressive original examples we've come across in years and the current asking price may be a bit on the conservative side for such a spectacular vehicle. We've already received interest from multiple collectors so don't expect for this one to remain available for long- come see it for yourself today before it's back in a private collection forever.
