The exterior of this car is in beautiful overall condition and virtually flawless of any chips or scratches. Although the car was restored roughly 25 years ago it appears like it was restored recently. From the information gathered it’s believed to have most of its original sheet metal which exception of the cowl hood and rear deck with spoiler which was replaced to enhance the character. The body was painted in its original factory color of Fathom Green with White stripes. The paint work is beautiful throughout and has been detailed to a show quality shine. The paint is complimented with a new correct White vinyl top which looks gorgeous. As Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish stated in his report, “Excellent Paint” and “Very rare color combination”. The wheels: AD = 15x8 pre Jan. 69, K =Kelsey Hays, 1=Chevrolet, 8=1968 and 89=August 9. This car has a great look with its striking color combination, RS headlight covers, endura front bumper and perfect stance. The interior of this car is also in beautiful overall condition. It’s finished in its original color of Midnight Green which is rare. From the information gathered many interior pieces are original such as the head liner, sun visors, gauges, knobs, switches, center console, door panels, seats and seat belts. Photos of the seat belt tags are included in the photo gallery. The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout with many correct parts. The car is powered by the original matching numbers DZ302 V8 engine that runs excellent. All of the engine numbers and miscellaneous parts are correct. The engine casting is #3932386 which May of 1968 through December of 1968. The engine casting date is #J268 which is October 26, 1968. The engine pad is V1029 DZ, V=Flint 1029 =October 29 DZ=Z/28 302. The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers 4-speed close ratio transmission. The transmission casting is #3925660. The transmission date is P9R22B which is P= Muncie 9 = 1969, R22 = October 22, B = M21 Close Ratio with this vehicles VIN #19L507801. The transmission tag #3946798 which is M21 with Z/28. The bell housing is #3858403 which is 10.4 inch clutch. The power is transferred through the original matching numbers 12-bolt POSI rear end with 3.73 gears. The rear axle casting is #3894860NF. The rear axle is #BU1017G1 which is BU= 3.73, 1017 = October 17, G= Gear and Axle Plant, 1 = first shift. The rear axle housing is #1208 which is September 28, 1968. All of these parts are pictured in the photo gallery with part numbers. The undercarriage is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. This undercarriage is nice enough to display with mirrors at a car show.
