A painstaking task began by finding a donor 2005 Mustang Saleen. The process removed the body of an amazing Saleen mustang and a 1969 body was installed, blended and created the perfect Pro Touring Fastback. Stunning is the only way to describe this car! The leading edge project involved carefully maintaining the Saleen platform's structural integrity to retain the car's core rigidity and therefore the correct suspension geometry. In addition to the basic platform, the Saleen contributed the car's upgraded suspension and 13-inch brake rotors, while the calipers are Brembo units up front and 2005 Mustang GT units in the rear; 20-inch modular alloy wheels are used all around with low-profile radials. The Saleen was also the source for the innovative supercharged and intercooled 4.6L engine, a remarkably light and compact piece rated at a full 400 horsepower and mated to a Hurst-shifted 5-speed manual transmission. The car also makes use of the Saleen's modern electronic controls for the ABS system, air bags, traction controls, air conditioning, wiring harness and navigation system. An important part of this build was properly fitting the Saleen interior within the 1969 Mustang's cabin space, a job completed seamlessly. This unique street machine shows a high degree of craftsmanship in every detail, including its marvelous paint and graphics. This car was a star at the DUB Show Tour event in Miami, Florida, where it garnered the Best Ford Award against a stellar field of entrants. A photographic record of the build is included.
