Vehicle Description
Awesome-looking 1969 Mustang fastback. Built 351W, automatic, power disc brakes. Recent paint and interior, lifetime southern car, runs and drives extremely well. Numerous upgrades, ready to rumble! This H-code sportsroof is ideal if you’re looking for a car to cruise and enjoy rather than trailer to shows. It was also refinished in its original code P Winter Blue a few years ago, and with a fresh wet sand and buff, it has a great shine. It was originally delivered to Memphis, Tennessee and spent its entire life down south, so all the sheetmetal is original to the car and we see no evidence of patching or poor workmanship hiding underneath. With a blacked-out hood, matching spoiler out back, and the satin black tail panel, it certainly has a nasty attitude, and the hood and quarter panel scoops add just the right amount of intimidation. We have restoration photos showing the car stripped down and in primer, and it’s clear they spent the time to get the panels to line up well—the gaps are clearly evident in our photos here. There are a few signs of use and the paint job isn’t perfect, but even from three feet away you’re not going to see any major flaws and this is a car that gets A LOT of respect on the street. Code 2B Light Blue Kiwi bucket seats is how this one was ordered and that’s what’s inside today. With contrasting black carpets, it has a clean, well-dressed look and most of the upholstery is recent, including the seat covers and carpets. A modern 3-spoke wheel has been wrapped in black leather and frames a full set of factory gauges, all of which are operational. A digital AM/FM stereo radio with iPod input replaces the original unit, and it powers a set of speakers in the dash and rear side panels so the upgrade is quite audible. The headliner appears to be original, which speaks to the car’s overall condition, and aside from one tear on the right B-pillar, it’s in great shape. The trunk was finished with correct spatter paint and a new carpeted mat, and there are no surprises waiting underneath (remember that the gas tank is the floor of the trunk in Mustangs). This car came with an M-code 351 cubic inch Windsor V8 originally, and that’s what living under the hood today. The 2-barrel carb is long gone, and the engine has been extensively upgraded, including Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads, a matching intake manifold, and 4-barrel carburetor, all of which add up to about 400 horsepower—considerably more than stock. It was painted Ford Blue so it looks right at home in the Mustang’s engine bay, and then topped with an open-element air cleaner with reproduction decals. Up front there’s a giant aluminum radiator that has no problem keeping things nice and cool. You’ll also note that the power steering has been upgraded to a Borgeson setup that eliminates the sloppy-feeling hydraulic ram in favor of a modern power steering box. From behind the wheel, you’ll notice the difference immediately. It starts easily with an awesome exhaust note, and idles with the kind of performance lope that tells you there’s an upgraded camshaft inside. Nothing radical, but it sure doesn’t sound stock! This might just be the best-sounding car we currently have in the showroom. You can see just how clean this car is by clanking underneath, where all the original floors are 100% intact. Factory spot welds are visible in all the right places and even the problem areas like the rear foot wells and rocker panel seams are completely unmarked. The torque boxes are solid and have not been cut or modified, so you know this car hasn’t been abused in the past. The FMX 3-speed automatic transmission offers clean, crisp shifts and quick downshifts when you poke the throttle. 3.00 gears out back make it a very comfortable cruiser that just loafs along at highway speeds. Power disc brakes give this Mustang substantial stopping power and there are a lot of new parts in the front suspension so it tracks rather well. Magnum 500 wheels are always the right choice, with these wearing staggered BFGoodrich T/A radials. Documentation includes an original owner’s manual, Deluxe Marti Report, restoration photos, and receipts. Fast, fun, and very attractive, this Mustang is everything you want a Mustang to be. Fastbacks will always be in demand and finding clean, unmolested cars is getting more difficult all the time. If you want one where all the heavy lifting is already done and all you have to do is get in and cruise, you won’t find many that do it better than this. Call today!
