Yes, you read that right, this amazing Torino GT Fastback is 100% original and still in the family. This car carried me home from the hospital when I was three days old and my father is still around to tell you exactly why he ordered it as a 4-speed with bench seat! While we have many memories with this classic, we have other cars to appreciate and it is time for this one to be enjoyed by someone else. This Torino was ordered from the local Ford dealer March 3, 1969 and delivered to my father just four weeks later. It was the family's daily driver for about eight years until the family grew and a four-door car was more convenient. Dad loved the car and rather than trading it, he kept it as the family's extra car. By 1986 when I was 16 with a driver's license it had the typical wear and tear for a 17 year old car, but I wanted it . I worked to scrape together a few dollars and bought the car from Dad. Little did I know, my Grandfather was ready to step in and help with the repairs and restoration needed to make it look like new. In 1987 it got a fresh paint job to match the original paint code and the interior was repaired to like new condition. Mechanically we pulled the 351 engine, bored the cylinders +.005" and did a complete overhaul on the stock heads. We pulled the 4-speed transmission and replaced the syncronizers, replaced the guts in the 9" rear and installed new U-joints. Since the complete engine and transmission overhaul the car has been driven less than 5,000 miles. I left for college in 1989 and only drove the car a few miles per year ever since. This car has been stored under cover in a climate controlled garage since 1988 . It is 100% steel with 0% rust. It is straight, solid, and has never been wrecked or even dinged in a parking lot. Shortly after Dad got the car, he removed the GT wheels and trim and installed aftermarket wheels. The steel wheels and aluminum trim rings have been in dry storage for 49 years. I pulled them out, mounted new tires, and they look like new!!! The original Autolite 4bbl carb was recently sent out for a complete cleaning and overhaul. It has a fresh battery. She starts on the first crank, sounds great, and runs strong. What it needs : New clutch disc and resurfacing of the flywheel (at 17 years old, I was too excited to drop the fresh engine in the car and I skipped the resurface) - window rubber - rear shocks - windshield washer tubing - tie-rod & sway bar bushings - driver's door arm rest. Most of the chrome trim is in great shape, however the rear bumper has one spot where the top coat is flaking off. The rim for the spare tire has a ding in it from where my Mother hit a curb or pothole in 1970 and will need straightened or replaced. (This is when Dad took the stock wheels off and put them in storage.) What you get: In addition to a numbers matching, 100% original car , you get a box full of NOS parts, OEM decals, hardware and fasteners, and even a box full of every original part that has been removed from the car since 1986. (I kept everything just in case!) At 17 years old I wanted to listen to my growing collection of cassette tapes so I pulled the original Ford am/fm stero. I was lucky enough to have a grandfather who recommended I buy a unit that would fit the existing dash opening. He even told me to keep the original radio, knobs and mounting hardware. It was working when removed, is safely stored in the trunk and can be reinstalled any time. There is a stack of documentation from the 80's restoration and various catalogs and lists of parts used. You even get the ORIGINAL lug wrench & tire jack , AND the ORIGINAL registration and owner's manual.
