Vehicle Description
This is a well preserved Road Runner. Believed to have it's original metal. Great original color combination too. Rebuilt period correct 383, #s match 4-speed and a factory air grabber!
EXTERIOR: It is claimed to have it's original metal and after my inspection, I agree. The quarter panels are not spliced, they still have the factory tabs at the bottom. The lip around the door edge is crisp. The gaps are square and flush. The doors shut like a new car, even with the windows up. Repainted it's original Frost Green. Not a perfect paint but it presents itself very well, has a glossy clear coat. The hood stripes are painted on nicely. I love the red accents from the air intake grills and brake drums. The vinyl top is in excellent shape. The glass is crystal clear all the way around. The bumpers have been rechromed. The grill is original, taillights are excellent, stainless trim is straight and shiny. It has an aggressive stance with some fatter tires in back. They are sparkling new 15 inch Cragars with BFG tires.
INTERIOR: I think the white interior is very pretty against the Frost Green. The upholstery is in excellent shape. The carpet looks new. The door panels are mint, armrests were replaced. New headliner, dome light works. Very clean dash, it's not cut or broken. Still has original radio, the knobs and lenses look good. It has it's original seatbelts, correct Hurst shifter and the air grabber lever.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a period correct that's been rebuilt. It runs real strong. This is a factory N96 air grabber car, the original system is still complete. The components are stock- valve covers, manifolds, brackets, pulleys etc. The Road Runner "beep beep" horn works, the washers are hooked up, the battery is bolted down. It also features power steering. The engine bay is clean straight metal. The original fender tag is still attached, the vin number stamped on the core support matches the car.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has the original metal. It is very rare to still have the original trunk floor in a Road Runner, this one is original but has some pitting. The compartment is painted green but it's not glossy. It does have a jack and spare assembly but they need to be cleaned up.
UNDERSIDE: Rock solid, amazingly clean original metal. The floors, frame rails, rockers are dry. Even the lower inner quarters are clean. The factory drain holes and tabs are still mint. The front end is not new but looks good. The rear springs and bushings were replaced. All four shocks were replaced. The dual exhaust looks clean. It has drum brakes all around. The hoses and lines were replaced, e-brake assembly is hooked up. Looking up at the motor it is still fresh, freeze plugs were replaced. It has a high torque starter. The casting date is 1969. The 4-speed is vin # matching to this car.
This is an honest car. It's not a rotisserie show car but it's good and solid, hasn't been messed with. Very desirable features and colors.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
