Well, In 1984, a little known magazine called Muscle Car Review published a story documenting the fastest 50 muscle cars of all time. This wasn't a road test, this wasn't vehicles they prepared, no nothing like that. Instead, they published 1/4mile times from sources when the cars were brand new. Little did they know, but #3 on the list was going to start a debate that 34 years later still rages on. on the list was the 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 that clocked a quarter mile time of 13.38 at 105mph. Only two vehicles, a 1966 427 Corvette and the famed 1966 Shelby Cobra did it faster. The MOPAR faithful were furious, This meant that a Buick was faster than a HEMI Cuda, Hemi Challenger, Hemi Charger and for what it's worth a '70 LS6 454 Chevelle SS. A few months later the magazine lined up the two infamous muscle cars at the first annual Super Car Shootout where the results were the same, The Buick outran the Hemi in 2 out of the 3 passes. Originally leaving the factory as a 1970 Buick Skylark Custom, today it sits as a Stage 1 clone that you don't have to feel guilty about taking out on the open road.
