Vehicle Description
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible 454 Take a look at this incredible reproduction of one of the most iconic and rarest Chevelle's on the planet; the Chevelle SS LS5 convertible. Since its total transformation nearly 10 years ago, this Chevelle now has the best of the best. Lets start with the power plant. This 454 has a date code correct 512 casting block ( this is no 1976 truck engine ), LS5 heads and the engine is bored 40 over. A Competition Cam, a new timing chain, new valves and Roller Rockers were used in the rebuild. On the outside, a Edelbrock Performa intake manifold and a Holley 750cfm dual feed double pumper carburetor top her off. The transmission is an M-21 4speed with a Hurst shifter. Ceramic Hooker Headers and dual 2.5" Flowmaster exhaust pipes show off the undercarriage. The 12bolt rear has Richmond 3:55 gears. A second set of 4:11 gears will also be included with the sale. We never had the car on a Dyno but we believe the horsepower rating is at or above 500hp. Other goodies include a MSD 6AL electronic ignition and a PowerMaster Mini-Starter. The odometer reads 34,033 but we can not guarantee it is actual. We can guarantee that there are only 4000 actual miles since its restoration nearly 10 years ago. The body has been refinished in GM Fathom Blue which is a color change from the original Forest Green. The paint, chrome and finish are beautiful top to bottom. The convertible top is as good as new and has a glass rear window. The power top goes up and down easily and locks into place effortlessly. The boot also fits perfectly. We put the boot on, on a 30 degree day with no trouble at all. This SS package has the cowl induction hood, hood pins and correct factory stripes. The interior is immaculate. Features and options include power steering, power brakes with disc brakes in front, drum in the rear and an upgraded booster and master cylinder. Interior was originally Saddle and is now all refinished in Black. The Full gauge package option works perfectly. Other features include bucket seats with center console, tilt wheel and an aftermarket Clarion AM-FM CD player with remote. American Racing Torque Thrust II polished Aluminum wheels ride Cooper Cobra GT radials. The undercarriage is immaculate and rust free. The rear end was fitted with a new Hotchkis suspension system and new Superior axles. Shocks are new all around. A full folder of receipts from its restoration show that most parts are new. There are also photos of the engine rebuild. This rare and highly desirable classic body style is less than 1/2 the price of a $150,000 matching numbers example yet this machine will guarantee the same look and feel and a little more.
