History The 1970-1971 model years consisted of the same models of 911 the entry-level T, the midrange E and the top of the line S. However, all models got a new, larger 2.2-liter engine which was an increase over the 2.0 liter from 1964 to 1969. The new power ratings were 120 hp (97 kW) for the T, 155 hp (123 kW) for the E and 180 hp (142 kW) for the S. The 911E and 911S used mechanical fuel injection (MFI) in all markets and the 911T was carbureted. 1970 was the first of the 2.2-liter engine with a single overhead camshaft, 6 cylinders with 2 valves per cylinder.
