Vehicle Description
A 2-year rotisserie frame-off restoration documented with photos and reciepts was completed November 2009 by national award winning auto restorer Metalworks Classics. This 1972 Chevelle SS Convertible is pure muscle. Matching numbers 350cid block, built and dyno tuned to 420hp to the rear wheel and 500hp at the flywheel. Balanced 383 rotating assembly, Brodix aluminum heads, hydraulic roller cam, roller rocker arms, Demon carburetor, MSD Pro billet distributor, Super Comp ceramic coated Hooker Headers, March serpentine pulley system and more. The original GM Saginaw 4-speed was replaced with a new Auto Gear M-22 4-speed. The factory correct reverse lock out linkage was maintained and is married up to a Hurst competition shifter. Eaton posi-traction was added to the original differential with Richmond 3:73 gears. A balanced aluminum performance drive shaft was installed, along with a Hayes competition clutch. The brakes were upgraded to 4-wheel disc with cross drilled/slotted rotors, and stainless brake and fuel lines. The steering box was upgraded to a close-ratio 2.5 turn lock to lock, along with Moog performance steering components. The suspension is firm and responsive and was upgraded to a complete front and rear Hotchkis system including heavy springs, Bilstein gas shocks, front and rear sway and traction bars. Factory equipped with power top, full gauge package, factory tachometer, clock, AM/FM radio, remote mirror, buckets and console. Finished in original color code #26 Mulsanne Blue. The upholstery is 1972 Chevelle white by Legends interiors. The original '72 Chevelle SS rims were retained, sitting on Goodyear Polyglas GT F60-15 tires including the spare.
