From 1968-1972 Chevrolet production of the Corvette was also known as the C3. Engine and chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous generation but the exterior styling and interior were radically new. The C3 saw all types of changes not only with the car but with economy and fuel crisis and increased call for safety. In 1973 The Corvette really started making a transformation from Muscle car to Sport Touring. In 1973 a few engine variants were offered and all of them were detuned versions of what they had already produced making it more appealing to the insurance companies that were coming down on the Big Three. In addition it also was fully optioned up with the exception of the off-road suspension which only a handful of cars received.
