Vehicle Description

1973 Ferrari 246 GTS VIN 03794 USA version, completed in May of 1972 Finished in a stunning color combination Giallo Fly Yellow with Black seats and carpets. Factory options: power windows & factory air conditioning. The engine and transmission were rebuilt in 2009 by Johannes Huwyler of Dino Motors in San Mateo, California 4,500 miles ago. The present owner has spent another $25,000 with The Auto Gallery (Ferrari dealer) in Canoga Park, California from 2013 to 2015. This 246 Dino performs flawlessly with a very strong 2.4-liter engine, producing 175-horsepower (top speed 148mph) and a 5-speed gearbox that shifts perfectly once warmed up with good synchromesh. Refinished five-bolt Cromodora alloy wheels are sporting Michelin XWX. The chassis & suspension have a great feel that makes the 246 a pleasure to drive. The paint and bodywork were done to high standards back in 1999 and it is showing some age with a few paint flaws and imperfections. The glass is in very good condition, with a few scratches on the driver's side window. All the chrome is in very good condition. The side markers have all been removed and flush mount front European turn signal lenses have been fitted with Cibi headlamps. The interior is in great condition with a correct "mouse hair" dashboard, seats, door panels, sills, center console, and carpets. The instruments are in very good condition and all function. Blaupunkt AM/FM radio with electric antenna. The air-conditioning blows cold and has been serviced. Both vent window latches are in place as well. The correct stowage bag for the top is behind the seats. The front trunk compartment is nicely detailed, with plastic liner panel, correct windscreen washer fluid bag, spare tire, and correct fuse block with correct fuse label decals. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a stunning 246 GTS Dino that has been loved and cared for. Complete with service records, photo documentation of the bare metal repaint, original manual in the pouch, and tool roll and jack. History Named for Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredino, who died in 1956 at the age of 24 as the result of muscular dystrophy, the Dino was, fittingly, a 'baby' Ferrari that was dimensionally smaller and more nimble than any other street Ferrari. Its mid-placed engine was a Ferrari first for a streetcar, and the engine itself is a gem: a lovely quad cam V6 that reflected the lessons learned from producing V6s for Dino race cars like the 206 SP. The styling for the car was done by Pininfarina and remains to many, one of the most beautiful and exotic Ferraris of the period. Certainly, the view from the driver's seat over the two prominently curved fenders is one of the most evocative roadgoing driver's seat views.
