Vehicle Description
'73 convertible with 351C 4-barrel auto trans. The car is in excellent shape overall, with lots of care, maintenance, and upgrades. Following is best I can describe it: History: Purchased in May of '96 from the third owner in California (I believe the car was originally from Kansas but went to California in the mid-70s). I drove it cross-country and it's been garaged in either NY or NJ since. Car has been meticulously maintained; receipts have been kept from the 1980s on. Usage has been limited to highway driving (since my daily transportation is public transport). Car is completely rust-free, accident-free, and is an excellent driver (it is a good candidate for a full restoration as well). Condition: Excellent, daily driver. Mechanicals are all excellent. Body has been resprayed in red metalflake in 2014 (Ford Molten Orange Tricoat). Interior is in fair condition and needs front new upholstery. Convertible top was replaced in 2018. The car has high-mileage, but is incredibly solid, has no rust, or any mechanical issues. Only 20,000 miles on engine/transmission, exterior work. Specifications: make: Ford model: Mustang year: 1973 body: convertible color: red (re-sprayed in 2014 in Ford Molten Orange Tricoat) engine: 351 Cleveland (rebuilt in 2012 @ 280K) transmission: Ford AOD (installed/rebuilt in 2012 @ 280K) factory options: power steering, power brakes (front disc), tilt steering wheel, side racing mirrors, A/C (non-working) mileage: 304K I have since put a good deal of maintenance, replacements, and improvements into the car--as follows: Suspension: American Racing AR-23 Cast Aluminum wheels Yokohama AVID ENVigor 205/65R15 tires front coil springs and shock absorbers rear leaf springs and shock absorbers front and rear anti-sway bars shock tower export braces vented front rotors Engine: 4-bbl Holley carburetor (600 cfm) Edlebrock Performer intake manifold Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition and Flame-Thrower coil 9mm ignition wires Ford Racing cast aluminum can covers Ford Racing 14” air filter Canton windage tray custom 2.25” dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers and X-crossover rebuilt radiator oil pan Ford Racing hi-torque starter motor Transmission/Drivetrain: Ford AOD (4-speed from a 1993 Mercury Marquis) Trick Flow finned aluminum transmission pan ATF cooler TransGo shift kit B&M torque converter pinion gear and differential bearings Body & Interior: new metalflake paint (Ford Molten Orange Tricoat) Scott Drake body panels (left and right front fenders, trunk floor) original Sport Racing mirrors (left & right) Mach 1 ‘honeycomb’ grills (front & rear) Mach 1 pop-open gas cap glass rear window/sailcoth top factory tilt steering wheel Additional/extra items: Rally Pac center instrument gauges & bezel (OEM) windshield wiper delay switch (OEM) Monte Carlo Bar (front suspension) halogen headlamps stripe decals & badges white tonneau cover (OEM) full set of 1973 Ford shop manuals (OEM) Following is a list of known issues.
