Vehicle Description
This 1973 Mercury Comet has the slick paint and value price to grab your attention. But it's the growling 302 V8 and five-speed upgrades that will really have you hooked on this sleeper. Take a moment to realize why we're all starting to really appreciate the Mercury Comet. This has a real sense of style with the long hood, fastback roof, integrated rear spoiler, and a hint of Coke-bottle curve in the profile. It truly represents the best in classic design, and it's all on a smaller/lightweight frame. This example just looks like a well-maintained classic with a great shine coming off the factory-correct Ginger Brown Metallic. The bodylines are straight, you get complete side trim, and there's even a classic vinyl roof. In fact, the only real hint to the sleeper personality is the upgrade to those Cragar SS wheels. Inside is a classic bucket seat interior that looks great from the right investments. They even upgraded to an AM/FM/CD stereo. But it's not the comfort that makes you want this Comet. You instantly know this is a driver's machine when you spot the huge AutoMeter Phantom 2 tach w/shift light, upgraded sports steering wheel, and full auxiliary gauge trio. And have you counted the gears on the Hurst shifter yet? There was a Comet GT in '73 that came with a hood scoop, but that doesn't fit this one's sleeper attitude. Instead it got the GT's 302 cubic-inch V8 upgrade, and they even put a large Holley double-pumper four-barrel carburetor on top. Plus, it has the right supporting components, like steel-braided hoses, Ford Racing plug wires, MSD coil, adjustable fuel pressure, Ford Motorsports valve covers, and a Champion aluminum radiator to help keep this V8 running cool. And you have true control over this upgraded motor thanks to the five-speed manual transmission. While this already has a nice wide tire rear setup if you enjoy taking quarter miles in your classic, there's also power steering and front disc brakes to make it great for anytime use. Nicely presented, nicely upgraded, and nicely priced - this is classic V8 coupe you've been waiting for. So don't let it slip away, call today!!!
