The Mercedes-Benz SL roadsters have a long pedigree and have had a following since they were new! A favorite among Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts around the world, the R107 SL is one of the most recognizable Mercedes-Benz vehicles of its time. In 1972, the R107 replaced the W113 SL-class beginning the third generation of the SL. This 1977 450SL is a nice example of a classic Mercedes roadster. Cosmetically, there is nothing needed unless someone wanted to make this into a show car. The paint is in excellent condition, both retaining its gloss and depth. Some of the exterior brightwork is showing its age, but is in good condition and cleans up well. The chrome wheels are a nice touch, and really make the red paint pop! The wheels show well and are in nice condition, but have some minor pitting as can be expected for the age. Overall, the body is clean and straight and could be enjoyed for many years as-is. Open the door and you'll be created by that classic "Mercedes smell." The interior is clean and complete and appears to be original. The only damage to the interior is some expected wear on touch items such as the steering wheel, buttons, and handles. Installed in the dash is a very appropriate aftermarket Blaupunkt radio. And before you ask, all the hardwork has been done, the A/C is blowing ice cold. Under the hood sits the proper Mercedes-Benz 4.5-liter V8 engine; this is a 450SL after all! The engine bay is complete and looks mostly original. As with the rest of the vehicle, the engine bay is in very nice driver-quality condition.
