From its humble beginnings as a rural police vehicle in Japan, the Toyota FJ40's reputation has spread worldwide. Collectors have recognized the value of Toyota's back-country workhorse, and their enthusiasm is very apparent. Offered here is a truly exceptional example of Toyota's renowned FJ40. FJ40251614 was sold new to Arizona, USA where it has resided its entire life, dry and corrosion free. According to previous caretakers, the local Toyota dealership (from where it was purchased) installed rear plastic fender flairs, BF Goodrich sand tires and a reserve gas tank for adventures in the local sand dunes. The truck remained in the area as a weekend driver, until a friend-of-a-friend eventually acquired the FJ and decided to commission the truck to a full nut-and-bolt restoration to its former cosmetic glory. Starting with a remarkably original, complete and well maintained example, the year-long restoration was fairly straightforward, while the truck is said to remain about 90% of its original components and metal, down the leaf spring shackles. The FJ retains its original, numbers-matching engine and colors with improved drivability for everyday use. Paint and upholstery were kept stock in appearance, retaining original glass, trim, roll bar, jumper seats and components. The motor is now fitted with a Weber DGAS carburetor conversion, coated long tube header and manifold for better power and reliability, while the original Aisan carburetor, cast manifold and airbox are included. In addition, the air conditioning system was upgraded with modern R134a refrigerant and compressor and recently serviced. In July 2017 Land Rover Restorations in KS performed a complete rebuild of the transmission. This remarkable FJ is now turn-key ready for comfortable city driving or overland adventures out of the box. The body has a clear paint protection film to further protect its appearance. This FJ40 is certain to be a hit on the show field, though would be equally at home if put to work. Exceptionally restored, it comes complete with factory original 1977 Owner's Manual, Tool Roll, Jack, Spare and Emergency Equipment for concours display – as-well-as spare consumable backup parts for off-roading, in which the FJ has already proven its worth during the 2016 Copperstate Overland Rally.
