WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS CAR: First Prototype Built by Cars & Concepts for the 1979 Daytona 24-Hour race using Herb Adams - VSE Parts. This car, once produced by Chevrolet as a Z28, went directly to Cars & Concepts where is was immediately transformed into the car you see here. Initially prepared for 24-hours @ Daytona the car did not make the starting grid. It was reportedly raced in FLA, MI, and CA. Most of the 1990s' and up to 2008 race activity was SCCA Solo, see pictures. It is a fully race prepared car with appropriate Engine, Suspension, Full Roll-cage, Fuel Cell, Fire cut-offs, Race Seats & Harnesses, etc. In 1992 the car was changed from long track preparation for SOLO competition. An all new DART Machinery engine was installed and gear ratios were changed to 4:10. The engine is believed to have about 1000 miles use. The '88 Vette heads on the car would not do so Pete went to Dick to remedy the situation. Very high torque wind up and hold for autocross, very seldom used second gear while auto crossing it. At that time it had a 5:36 Detroit locker rear end in it. Back in the day you didn't have to have a log book for SCCA autocross, therefore no log book exists. In 2015, after years of languishing in and out of storage it was freshened for, at least, street driving. Carb, fuel system, new seat belts-harnesses, Richmond/Daytona pinions & hubs, and Turbo 400 (B&M), Brakes, Shockswere all gone through. Presently, the car drives out beautifully and is fully street legal, in Ohio. Very fun to drive and always attracts attention. Get some bell bottom trousers, a tight polyester shirt and come for a ride or just to see it under the disco ball. Thereappears to be goodknowledge of three (3) Cheverra's produced in 1979 and 1980 time frame with the idea of showcasing the VSE products that Herb Adams and company were manufacturing at the time.
