DESCRIPTION: This was a very limited production run model. Built only between 1978 and 1980. To get around stringent new environmental and pollution standards in the late 70's, the Dodge Little Red Express allowed certain performance enhancements and more horse power because it was classified as a truck. The most prominent design feature of this model are the twin exhaust stacks that rise vertically right behind the cab, like a semi truck. The other features are a tuned 360 Magnum engine which was second only to the Chevrolet Corvette that year in terms of raw horsepower. Because of its limited production run and outlandish design, these trucks are becoming more and more sought after. It has appeared on several lists of future collectible muscle cars. I have owned this truck for 5 years. I bought it from a reputable classic car dealer in NJ (Black Tie Classics). According to the dealer this truck belonged to the original owner who passed away. I have not done anything to the truck. The truck is un-modified in as-original factory condition. EXTERIOR: All original sheet metal. The panels are straight no waves. Never been in an accident as far as I can tell. New graphics. All lettering is intact and new. The truck bed sheet metal is solid. The cab corners and windshield surround is solid no rust. The rear cab window and surrounding sheet metal is solid and no rust. The panels line up straight and evenly throughout. There are no modification whatsoever to the appearance of the truck that deviates from its original design. The front grill is in good undented condition which is rare for this model since the front grill is made of very dent-able aluminum. The chrome stacks are all in good un-rusted straight condition. The rear bumper looks good. No rust. The door handles work perfectly. The exterior rear view mirrors and chrome are in original good condition. The magnum slot steel chrome wheels are in good condition. The truck chassis is solid no rust. No rotted frame pieces. The passenger side floor board sheet metal has rusted through in a section about the size of a Snickers bar. The wood panels are brand new replacement from Bruce Horkey (http://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com/page33.html). All the glass is clear and intact. No cracks. The truck bed rear door opens and closes just fine. The locking chains that keep the flatbed rear door closed are original. INTERIOR: The vinyl seat are brand new replacement from Legendary Auto (http://www.legendaryautointeriors.com/). The door panels are all in good condition and intact. The dash is in good condition. All the gauges work. Fuel, Amp, Oil, Temp all work. The wipers work. The washer fluid works. The lights work. All signals work. The cab dome light works. The rear cab cargo exterior light works. The rear exterior light plastic housing is intact and not cracked. The license lamp works. The gear shift light works. The glove compartment is intact and glove compartment door is intact and good condition. The door locks work. The little triangular vent windows open, lock, and shut properly. The parking brake works. All the seat belts work. The heater defog and fan all work. The cigarette lighter works. The hood release lever works. The rear view mirror is in good condition. The Tuff steering wheel is original Grant with black vinyl stitched covering in good condition. The horn works. The gear shift lever is column mounted and works fine. DRIVETRAIN: Factory original engine block and transmission. All original block, heads, exhaust and intake manifolds. Engine stamping on front of passenger side just under the heads reads "9W360T1. The date code on door jamb is Jan 79 which matches the engine stamping. There are no stampings on the pad along the transmission pan rail which is consistent with factory original blocks used on these trucks. Original brake booster. I have not done anything to this truck because it hasn't needed anything. I cannot be certain what components have been replaced over the years as a result of normal wear and tear; water pump, brake pads, carburator, steering pump. et al. The engine is extremely powerful. The rear wheels are large and wider than stock, and I can burn out anytime. Original air cleaner dual snorkel cover pan that says "360 Express." Twin air intake hoses are all original. Radiator appears to be original. Battery was replaced 2 years ago with a 72 month battery. There are no leaks whatsover on my garage floor as a result of this truck. I cannot be sure if the suspension bushings have been replaced. The truck drives quietly and smoothly down the road.
