Vehicle Description
Has there ever been a more perfect color combination on a car than a Trans Am in Black and Gold with that iconic Firebird on the hood spreading its wings from fender to fender? It is at the very least the most immediately identifiable car on the road, even by people who aren't into cars. Part of that is thanks to the Smokey and the bandit movie that was still influencing sales when this car was built. They were, are, and always will be iconic and fun to drive cars. Check this one out. This car is not for someone looking to roll into town without being noticed. It shows up full of bravado and ready to rumble. The paint is the original color that received a mid-life respray and is still looking good. The bird on the hood is a decal that looks fresh and new with no flaws or bubbles. Trans Am T/A 6.6 is lettered on the shaker hood scoop and Trans Am appears on the front fenders just below the air extraction vents. A Pontiac Arrow graces the center flanked by quad headlights tucked back in to the sloped nose and gold trims out the air intakes below the centerline. The deep chin spoiler wraps around and flares out to meet the front wheel wells and the fenders flare our both front and rear to cover the beefy rubber tucked up under them. There are T-roofs that can be removed for your cruising pleasure and a serious rear spoiler has Trans Am lettered on it while the taillights appear black with horizontal lines until they light up. Open the door and you will find a stock Black interior that is bold in its own right. The door panel is outlined in thin chrome piping with a Firebird badge at the top front. A beefy steering wheel is mounted on a three-spoke hub and tilt column with a Firebird horn button. Behind it is the tach on the left and speedometer on the right with the water temp and oil pressure gauges between them. Fuel and volt meters are mounted in the center just over the ventilation controls that include air conditioning and an FM stereo. The shifter for the automatic transmission is mounted in the center console just in front of the power window switches. The front bucket seats make a bold statement with their substantial side bolsters to keep you supported during spirited driving and the ergonomically designed seating surfaces with pleats in just the right places. The carpeting looks like new and ties this interior together nicely. Shaker hoods are awesome on muscle cars. Open the hood and the air scoop, which in this case is reversed to take advantage of the high-pressure area at the base of the windshield, stays on top of the carburetor. Under it is a you will find a stock 403 cubic inch motor that is the original numbers matching one delivered in this car new nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. The power it makes is sent back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels mounted on leaf springs. The WS6 suspension means that those springs are heavier duty than standard as are the coils springs in the front. Also, heavier sway bars both front and rear keep the car cornering flat and handling like a sportscar. 4-wheel disc brakes assure that you can haul this car down from speed and the rubber meets the road through 225-70R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/As mounted on Gold honeycomb wheels. If you are looking for a fun car to show up with on cruise night as well as to sport around the backroads with, then come on down and check out this black and gold Trans Am.
