1979 Triumph TR-7 Drop Head Coupe with 19,680 original miles The Triumph TR-7 was manufactured by the Triumph Motor Company from September 1974 to October 1981. This car was launched to huge demand in the United States in January 1975. This sports car has a wedge shape that was advertised as “the shape of things to come”. This TR-7 has a four-cylinder engine with a four-speed gearbox. There are front and rear anti-roll bars and disc brakes in front and drums in the rear. The TR-7 was not initially available as a convertible because of a proposed American legislation on roll-over protection. In early 1979, the convertible was introduced as the TR-7 Drophead Coupe which had wide appeal in the States. Approximately 115,000 TR-7 models were built with 28,864 being soft top convertibles. The authenticity of this car is entirely Triumph with no modifications or aftermarket components except for the battery. The TR7 is a spirited performer that is nice and tight and handles like a new car. Everything works. It has been well preserved with regular maintenance and climate controlled storage. It has had only three owners. This one speaks for itself. It is a 2-owner car beautifully maintained in original condition. It was a Senior First Place winner at the AACA National Meet in 2008. It has never been driven in winter or bad conditions. The convertible top shows no wear. The tan seats are exceptional, as is the dash and all instruments. The glass and carpets are like new.
