Vehicle Description
Original owner is selling a 1980 Hansa blue Mercedes-Benz 240D. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained since purchased new in 1980. Full service records are available for inspection and will convey with the vehicle. Over the course of 39 years many components have been routinely serviced and replaced by Mercedes authorized workshops. All systems in this vehicle are functional with minor exceptions noted below. Most recent repairs include a new air conditioning system, vacuum system and clutch. The first clutch lasted for 39 years! The vehicle has high end rain tires with only 10,000 miles since installation. Spare tire is new. With one small exception, there is no rust. Small evidence of rust appears on the rear driver fender; less than inch square; please note photo of rust. Replaced since the original manufacture are new OEM front fenders and a newer stainless steel exhaust system. New door and trunk gaskets. Systems I have yet to diagnose and resolve: rear window defroster; dome light. No engine leaks which is unusual for this vehicle. In a heavy rain, the trunk still takes in water by the wheel wells. This is typical. Significantly, this vehicle features a four speed manual transmission; a must have for quick acceleration in a world with higher powered vehicles. Diesel fuel only. No sunroof (a plus). No cracks on the dashboard; nice original seats. The cruise control is fussy. It always works at higher speeds (70mph) but often lags and surges at 55, We had the cruise control repaired once before but it doesn't seem worth the expense anymore. The original radio works fine. Just turn the dials... This vehicle was driven by my mother from the age of 54 to age 90. Sadly, we must say goodbye. This vehicle has always been garaged. We've done our best to take care of this beauty. Please ask questions. C Mueller
